BGCFDL Committed to Trauma-Informed Practice

Last week, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley team led a 3-day Trauma-Informed training experience for 11 Boys & Girls Clubs across the Midwest. This intensive training offered Clubs opportunities to expand their knowledge, hone skills, and integrate trauma-informed practice into every domain of their organization. Dan Hebel (CEO), Pam Sippel (Director of Operations), and Aly Sanders (Director of Social Emotional Learning) participated on behalf of the Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac.

Trauma-Informed practice recognizes the widespread impact and signs of trauma, actively resists re-traumatization, and walks alongside others’ experiences. This human-centered approach informs everything about our organizational culture knowing every interaction has the potential to help heal when coming from a compassionate and intentional place. We understand that those interactions and environments affect others, which is why we are striving to help others feel seen, heard, capable, and fulfilled.

We’re thankful for the tremendous work done by the Fox Valley team to bring Clubs together and effectively share their knowledge in a way that allows us to move forward with a deep and focused commitment to trauma-informed work – because when we know better, we do better. And we’re all better when we’re all better.
