Meet BGCFDL’s New Graduation Specialist

Ashly Steger has been selected as the Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac’s new graduation specialist, and has already begun making a positive impact on students who are enrolled in the organization’s Be GREAT: Graduate program. In partnership with the Fond du Lac School District, Be GREAT: Graduate is nationally recognized as a dropout prevention program designed to enhance each youth’s engagement with learning by providing consistent support and helping members graduate from high school on time with a plan to be college-, community-, or career-ready after graduation. The program enrolls freshman and sophomore students who are struggling with academics, attendance, and/or behavior. These students can be referred by counselors, teachers or even parents who feel their student could benefit from having extra support on the journey to graduation.

Steger brings with her 10 years of experience working in youth-serving organizations. She specializes in connecting with individuals on their level. By focusing on today’s youth, Steger has been able to put her Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees she has earned to work in helping support the community she loves and serves. Prior to this role, Steger worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Dodge County Mobile Crisis, and Rogers Memorial Hospital, where she had the opportunity to grow and build skills along her journey.

Steger is also an active member of the community, participating in local events and currently serves on the board of directors for Bo’s Heavenly Clubhouse. When she is not working, Steger loves to hike with her three dogs and spend time with her husband. She loves motorsports, has been ziplining between the forest trees, and has even jumped out of an airplane for fun!

“My new role allows me to empower students with the resources and tools that will assist them in reaching their full potential. For some youth, graduation might be a dream. I want those individuals to know what it feels like to walk across that stage and receive their diploma, that moment can open the doors for future opportunities. My goal is to ensure that the students in the program know that I am in their corner, cheering them on every step of the way. High School Graduation does not need to be just a dream, it can be their reality,” said Steger.
