Spell for Great Futures Virtual Event set for Oct. 14!

The Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac is excited to announce that our 7th annual Spell for Great Futures virtual-themed event is set to take place on Wednesday, October 14, 2020. Presented by Society Insurance, the spelling bee is a fundraising event that typically involves the participation of business leaders in and around the Fond du Lac community as well as our Club members. Due to COVID-19, this year’s event has been modified and will be carried out in a virtual format.

Business/community leaders will still be randomly teamed up with Club members, and the leaders’ main role this year will be to act as a “team encourager” leading up to the virtual competition, in which the Club members will be participating in as individuals representing the business of the leader they are matched up with. The virtual competition will take place via Zoom and will begin with three different “breakout room” spaces at the Johnsonville Club to complete the preliminary round of the bee. Each “breakout room” will consist of an equal number of Club members and one Judge.

The top speller within each “breakout room” will continue on to compete in the Championship Round that will take place in the main Zoom meeting room (aka Center Showdown Stage) with our Master Pronouncer to determine the Champion of the 2020 Spell for Great Futures spelling bee. The Champion, along with the “team encourager” from the business they are representing in the bee, will have their names engraved on our 6 foot traveling trophy which will be displayed at their school for the year.

A highlight video will be created and shared to the Boys & Girls Club’s social media platforms soon after the event.

*Club members are invited to sign up (with their parent/guardian’s permission!) via our ONLINE FORM ASAP! Don’t miss out on the opportunity to participate in this fun, one of a kind event! NOTE: Each Club member participant will take home a “Good Vibes” bag full of fun items to keep them feeling positive during these challenging times!

Sponsorship and/or participation will help to ensure the success of this event and directly impact our academic programs. For more information or to get involved, please contact Tiffany Heim at 920-924-0530 ext. 352 or theim@bgcfdl.org.
