February 2024 Face of Great Futures

Anilah is 12 years old and currently a 7th grader at Sabish Middle School. She lives with her mom, stepdad, older stepsister, two younger sisters and their dog. Anilah has been a Boys & Girls Club member since she was in 5th grade. She stated that she enjoys coming to Club because she gets to “hang around with friends and do fun activities.” Her favorite thing about Club is the staff members, and she added, “Miss Nevaeh is my FAVORITE!”

When Anilah is not at Club, she enjoys drawing or writing in her journal about school and life. She describes herself as someone with a great smile who likes to help and care for other people. Anilah’s family and friends make her feel happy and proud, and the most important thing she has learned in life so far is to “be a leader, not a follower.” Her advice for younger kids at Club is to “be yourself and don’t try to impress others.”

Anilah shared that she is good at running (she is in track!) and writing. When asked what she’d like to be when she grows up, Anilah stated that she would like to become a nurse. She added that she loves going to the fairgrounds and the waterpark when the weather is nice. If she could go anywhere in the world, she would visit Jamaica!

Anilah’s favorite subject in school is social studies, while her least favorite is math. Her favorite color is light pink and she loves to eat steak and seafood “because it’s delicious!” Anilah stated that if she had three wishes, they would be to 1) get her dream job as a nurse, 2) get her dream car which is a pink Mercedes Benz, and 3) get her dream house someday!
