BGC Virtual Event Reaches Beyond the Stars
The 13th annual Reach for the Stars Virtual Event & Auction has proven that even when challenges and obstacles arise, people can still come TOGETHER to make great things happen. Held each February to benefit our 10 week summer programs provided to over 500 youth in the Fond du Lac community, this year’s event took place in a completely virtual format, and it was an incredible showing of support for our youth!
Presented by Grande Cheese, Reach for the Stars included an inspiring speech from the Boys & Girls Club’s 2020-21 Youth of the Year, Eltayana Wilson, and a special feature video starring Club youth, staff and partners (view below!). This video highlights our mission and vision for youth, how we utilize our Club Values to lift each other up during difficult times, and the meaningful community relationships we have built over the years that give us the opportunity to do whatever it takes for kids and families who need us most.
Coupled with numerous sponsorships from local businesses and individuals, Reach for the Stars raised over $120,000 in support of our summer youth programs. This virtual event marked the largest single fundraising event in the history of our organization. A significant portion of the proceeds raised through the event stemmed from the “Sponsor a Child” summer scholarship promotion in which Grande Cheese provided a generous gift match of $15,000. This helps to eliminate any financial barriers that may exist for children who want to enroll in our upcoming summer programs.
