September 2022 Face of Great Futures

Adele is 8 years old and is really enjoying 3rd grade in Ms. Davis’ classroom at Roberts Elementary School. This is her first year being a part of the Boys & Girls Club because this is the first year the Club’s afterschool program has been offered at her school; and so far, she loves it! Adele stated that the Club is great for kids because a lot of them need a safe place to spend time having fun after school until their parents are done working. 

Adele’s favorite thing about Club is snack time because she loves food and socializing with her friends. She shared that she is proud of herself for being a good friend to others and always trying to be helpful when someone is dealing with a problem. Adele has learned that “you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, and the same thing goes for people!” Her advice for younger kids at Club is to “Try to work to figure out problems when they happen. Always be respectful, responsible, and safe.”

When she is not at Club, Adele enjoys doing diamond-dotting art and is currently working on a big rose. She is also very interested in history, especially reading Who Was… books about famous historical figures. Adele’s favorite subjects in school are art, reading and history, while her least favorite subjects are writing and gym class. She added that she is especially good at art and music. Her favorite foods are mac-n-cheese and pretty much any other foods that start with the letter “m”, such as macaroons; but she also enjoys cheese, and has even tried chocolate cheese, which she says is DELICIOUS. Adele’s favorite color is red because “it just pops!” Adele is happiest when she sees her family members and also when she sees animals who are really happy and playing around. 

When asked what she’d like to be when she grows up, Adele stated that she would LOVE to be a professional mermaid in an aquarium, which is someone dressed up as a mermaid who gets to swim around with dolphins and make kids happy. Her second choice is to become a veterinarian because she loves animals. Although her family does not have any pets, she would like to have a golden retriever puppy someday. Adele stated that if she had three wishes, they would be to 1) stop protests and racial issues, 2) go back in time and meet Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana, and 3) meet a whole bunch of superstars like Adele (the singer!), Queen (the band!) and Lady Gaga.

Adele lives with her mom, dad, and two younger sisters who are 6 and 3 years old. She shared that she and her dad once caught 11 fish at Family Camp Nawakwa, which is her favorite place to visit. Another fun place she has visited with her family is Disney World, and she had a blast on the Splash Mountain ride! If Adele could go anywhere in the world, she would visit Paris because “I want to see the Eiffel Tower, and I love accents too!”  

FUN FACT: Adele is so talented at singing (just like the famous singer Adele!) that she landed a solo performance in her spring concert last year. Way to go!
