May 2022 Face of Great Futures

Carmen is a 4th grader at Parkside Elementary and attends Club almost every day after school. She shared that this is her first year as a Boys & Girls Club member and she enjoys participating in the programs because “it’s fun, I like talking to a lot of different people, and learning important things like how to respect others.” Some of Carmen’s favorite things about Club are all the cool programs, Fun Friday activities like watching movies, going out for recess, and doing awesome experiments.

Carmen lives in Fond du Lac with her mom, dad, two sisters, and one brother, along with their cat named “Bear” and four fish that her mom named after her and her three siblings. Carmen stated that the best thing that has happened in her life so far is attending Parkside and meeting all of her friends! She added that it makes her both happy and proud when people are nice to each other, and also when people reach their goals.

Carmen enjoys spending time outside with her friends after school!

Carmen describes herself as kind and caring. She shared that her favorite subjects in school are math and learning all about the world. When asked what she’d like to be when she grows up, Carmen stated that she would like to become a scientist because “when people do experiments, it just looks cool!” She would also enjoy learning more things about Earth and how to make it better. If she could go anywhere in the world, Carmen would visit Japan to see the beautiful cherry blossom trees. She would also like to go to Mexico, because there’s good food there and she likes the way the people dress as well as the great music they listen to.

In her free time, Carmen enjoys drawing, painting, and hanging out with her friends and family. Carmen stated that her favorite food is pasta with alfredo sauce, her favorite colors are blue and black, and if she had three wishes, they would be: 1) to be a scientist, 2) to have lots of money to give to people in need, and 3) to help everyone have a good life! If Carmen could give advice to younger Club kids, she would tell them to “be respectful to everyone, listen to your teacher, and don’t bully people because if you do, if will come right back to you.”
