SPELL for Great Futures raises $33K for Academic Programs

The Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac held its 9th annual SPELL for Great Futures team spelling bee on October 12. Business and community leaders were randomly teamed up with Club members to compete in this magical Harry Potter themed event. Presented by Society Insurance and coupled with other numerous sponsorships from local businesses and individuals, the event raised $33,000 to directly support the Club’s academic programs.

Friends and family of participants attended the event and were treated to a special introduction highlighting the 24 teams competing in the spelling bee, comprised of a total of 72 participants. Placing third in the spelling bee was Tomessa Marley (The Arc Fond du Lac and Kiwanis of Fabulous Fond du Lac), Mackenzie Vogelsberg and Amorlei Rebek. Coming in second place was Kirk Midthun (McNeilus Steel), Stephany Lopez and Jacob Stautner. And placing first as this year’s Championship team was Jenny Ingalls (Associated Bank), Shaylah Buechel and Cali Smith.
