December 2024 Face of Great Futures

Jerzi is 9 years old and currently a 4th grader at Parkside Elementary. This is her first year at Parkside and also her first year attending the Boys & Girls Club. Although Jerzi has only been a Club member for a few months, she’s been selected as our Face of Great Futures because she’s just a good kid! She is always helpful, she is nice to other Club members, and she has taken the initiative to join Torch Club which gives her the opportunity to do a lot of community service projects throughout the school year. Let’s get to know Jerzi!

Jerzi and another Club member decorate a themed Christmas tree for the Children’s Museum’s annual “Trees Around the World”

Do you have any nicknames? “Jerzi Werzi”

Who do you live with? My mom, 16 year old brother, and 15 year old sister.

Why do you think kids come to Club? Because parents are busy doing stuff.

What is your favorite thing about Club? When we have Fun Fridays, and we do fun stuff!

How do you like to spend your free time? Hanging out with my mom and my friends on weekends.

What are you good at? Soccer and football.

What do you like most about yourself? That I’m helpful to others and that I like to cheer myself up when I’m sad. I go to the mirror and say “I’m ok.”

What makes you feel happy or proud? My family. I’m also proud that I’m good at picking up others when they are upset and being kind to others.

What’s your favorite thing to learn in school? Math.

What do you want to be when you grow up? I would like to be an art teacher (because I’m good at art), a special needs teacher, or a cop.

Best thing that’s ever happened to you? When I got my first dog.

Favorite place you’ve ever been? Trampoline park.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? I would go to Florida because I have a lot of memories from going there with some of my family. We went to Disney World!

Favorite food? Spaghetti. The way my mom makes it, there’s a type of cheese in the noodles, and then sauce and meat.

Favorite color? Blue and gold. Those colors represent the inside of my grandma’s old house. We have a lot of good memories there.

Most important thing you have learned so far in life? To stay away from people you don’t know.

Advice for younger Club kids? Don’t be rude to others.

If you had 3 wishes, what would they be? 1) To have a talking bird, a cat, and a turtle, 2) to have the best family, and 3) to become an artist!

We love having Jerzi as part of our Boys & Girls Club family and look forward to watching her grow and do GREAT things! For more information about our youth programs and how to sign up, visit our Become a Member page!
