August 2025 Face of Great Futures
Josleen is 8 years old and will be a 3rd grader at Riverside Elementary this fall. She has been a Club member for two years, and loves attending because she gets to see her friends and teachers, and play! Josleen has been selected as our Face of Great Futures this month “because of the mini leader she is! Josleen has always been a light to our Club. She is not only a ‘fashionista’ with the biggest smile, but a one of a kind friend and Club member. She is always ready to try new programs and be a helping hand to staff and peers,” stated Miss Eltayana, Johnsonville elementary director. Let’s get to know Josleen!
Why do you think kids come to Club? To have fun and learn a lot of fun stuff.
Who do you live with? Dad, Mom, and my two older sisters.
How do you like to spend your free time? I usually go to the park, go bowling, skating, or anything that comes to my mind really!
What are you good at? Basketball and coloring.
What do you like most about yourself? I’m funny, kind, and caring.
What makes you feel happy or proud? Hanging out with my family, watching movies together at home.
What’s your favorite thing to learn in school? Least favorite? Mathematics, specifically “times”, is my favorite. I love playing fun math games. My least favorite is “minus” because it’s too easy for me!
What do you want to be when you grow up? An artist who draws nature and people.
Best thing that’s ever happened to you? The time I went to Chicago with my whole family at Thanksgiving.
Favorite place you’ve ever been? The skating rink, because my friend’s birthday party was there!
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? Puerto Rico, because it looks really nice there.
Favorite food? Spaghetti, because it has peppers and veggies in it.
Favorite color? Blue, because it’s just a really pretty color to me.
Most important thing you have learned so far in life? Don’t go into the deep end of the pool without a lifeguard. And don’t be mean to people, because it’s not kind.
Advice for younger Club kids? Learn your “times” (multiplication) table because it will get really hard when you grow up!
If you had 3 wishes, what would they be? 1) To touch my feet to the bottom of the deep end of the pool, 2) to hang out with friends almost every day, and 3) to always be positive, kind, and nice.
We love having Josleen as part of our Boys & Girls Club family and have no doubt she will grow up to do GREAT things!
