April 2025 Face of Great Futures

Clara is 10 years old and currently a 4th grader at Pier Elementary. She has been a Boys & Girls Club members since 1st grade and has been selected as our Face of Great Futures because “she is one of the most kind and responsible Club members. All the younger kids look up to her,” said Mr. Dave, Pier extension director. Let’s get to know Clara!

Why do you think kids come to Club? Some kids’ parents pick them up late because they have to work.

Who do you live with? My parents, grandma, two older sisters, and four younger brothers.

What is your favorite thing about Club? Having fun with friends!

How do you like to spend your free time? Drawing and playing with my brothers and sisters.

What are you good at? Playing basketball and sketching.

What do you like most about yourself? My personality.

What makes you feel happy or proud? Listening to music; pop music is my favorite and I love the band “Black Pink”.

What’s your favorite thing to learn in school? Literacy; learning how to write a story that makes sense.

What do you want to be when you grow up? A singer is my first choice, and a professional basketball player is my second choice.

Best thing that’s ever happened to you? Going to a mall in Milwaukee that has an arcade.

Favorite place you’ve ever been? Florida, because I liked going to the beaches.

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? I would go back to the St. Louis arch! I would also like to go to this place in Chicago that has rabbits you can pet and feed.

Favorite food? Noodles.

Favorite color? Orange, because I like oranges and one of my favorite plushies at home is also orange.

Most important thing you have learned so far in life? To always listen to my mom and dad.

Advice for younger Club kids? Listen to instructions.

If you had 3 wishes, what would they be? 1) To get to the rabbit place in Chicago, 2) to be very good at basketball like some of the players on TV, and 3) to read people’s minds!

We love having Clara as part of our Boys & Girls Club family and look forward to watching her grow and do GREAT things! For more information about our youth programs and how to sign up, visit our Become a Member page!
