Meet BGCFDL’s New Social Emotional Learning Coordinator

The Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac continues to make its mental health programs a priority with the addition of a new social emotional learning (SEL) coordinator. Hannah Schumacher has been selected to join the organization’s leadership team and is working alongside Aly Sanders, the Club’s director of social emotional learning.

In 2022, Schumacher graduated from Fox Valley Technical College with her Associate Degree in Substance Use Disorder Counseling. During her schooling at FVTC, she worked at Caravel Autism Health and Inspire Dreams Daycare. Through those experiences, she became very passionate about working with children and helping them achieve their goals. Most recently, she worked at the Beacon House for about two years while going to school for her Bachelor Degree in Human Services. In her final semester at UW Oshkosh, she had the opportunity to intern at the Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac and was introduced to a “wonderful organization with a wonderful staff team.” She enjoyed being able to help integrate programs and help children learn how to be successful in a classroom setting. In her new role as SEL Coordinator, she plans to be a great support for Club members and help them develop skills to achieve success.

“I am so delighted to begin my new journey in my role as the Social Emotional Learning Coordinator. I recently completed my internship through the Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac and was inspired by their mission and passion within the community. Working with children has always been my passion and I am excited to help kids feel heard, validated, and supported within the community. The kids in our community now will be our future leaders, and it is important that they learn and develop skills to help them be successful inside and outside of the classroom. I believe that every child has the potential to follow their dreams despite what they may have gone through. My goal is to help members reach their goals, gain self-awareness, develop important social and emotional skills, and work through their barriers while being their supporter,” said Schumacher.
