February 2022 Face of Great Futures

Danaiyah just turned 18 years old on February 5 (Happy Birthday!!!) and also graduated from Fond du Lac High School last month. It’s been a VERY exciting few weeks for her! Danaiyah has been a dedicated Club member since 2017, participating in just about every program and opportunity our organization has to offer. Recently, Danaiyah decided to put her natural leadership skills to good use by becoming part of our program staff working directly with our younger Club youth. She loves spending her time at Club and stated that “it has a family vibe and feels like another home for a lot of kids; it’s a safe space where you can talk to adults if you need someone else to lean on other than your parent figures.”

Danaiyah is truly a fantastic mentor and role model to the younger kids at Club. She is good at motivating others, being positive, and is very outgoing and reliable. Danaiyah feels she is very mature for her age and is ready to take on the world as a young adult. She stated, “I hold myself to high standards. I’ve always had goals, and have always pushed myself to do my best.” Danaiyah’s advice for younger Club youth is to “stay true to yourself; be yourself and don’t change for anyone else.”

When asked what her plans are for the future, Danaiyah shared that she has been accepted to NWTC where she plans to take business classes. Her ultimate goal is to become a real estate agent and eventually own a real estate business with a “team effort mentality”. To begin this journey, the first step she plans to take is getting her real estate license so she can begin working in the field and gaining experience.

Danaiyah describes herself as a someone with a good heart who enjoys making other people happy, being there for others, and always striving to be better. She shared that in her spare time, she enjoys dancing, singing, and hanging out with friends and family. Danaiyah lives in Fond du Lac with her mother, 21 year old brother and 2 year old brother. She stated that if she had three wishes, she would wish to succeed in life, become well-known as a good person, and to help others as much as possible. The most important lesson Danaiyah has learned in life so far is “not to take anything for granted.” She added that the pandemic has put a lot of things into perspective for all of us.

One of Danaiyah’s favorite memories from her years being involved with the Boys & Girls Club is the trip she was able to take to Washington D.C. with other Club members and staff in July of 2019. She experienced a lot of cool things, learned a ton and had a great time! If she could go anywhere in the world, she would choose to visit Miami next, because “it’s just so beautiful there!”

FUN FACTS: Danaiyah’s favorite colors are purple and blue and she loves Chick-fil-A (when are we getting one in Fond du Lac?!). She has utilized her singing talents to perform at the Club’s annual Reach for the Stars Dinner & Auction, and will be performing at this year’s event as well! Don’t miss YOUR opportunity to hear her incredible voice along with many other talented Club youth…for more information about Reach for the Stars, visit bgcfdl.org/reach!

We can’t wait to see where Danaiyah’s future takes her, which we are certain will be nothing but GREAT places! For more information about our Teen program and how to sign up, click HERE! To check out our employment opportunities, click HERE!
