SPELL raises over $40K for Academic Programs
The Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac held its 11th annual SPELL for Great Futures team spelling bee on July 24, 2024. Business and community leaders were randomly teamed up with Club members to compete in this year’s Wonka themed event. Presented by Society Insurance and coupled with other numerous sponsorships from local businesses and individuals, the event raised over $40,000 to directly support the Club’s academic programs.
Friends and family of participants attended the event and were treated to a special introduction highlighting the 24 teams competing in the spelling bee, comprised of a total of 72 participants. Placing third in the spelling bee was Laura Barnes (Society Insurance), Vada Narbatovics and Penelope Gorchels. Coming in second place was Kathy Strong Langolf (Fond du Lac Noon Kiwanis / Habitat for Humanity of FdL County), Jeannie Aufdenkamp and Melissa Jaber-Wilson. And placing first as this year’s Championship team was Melanie Knowles (Atlas Molded Products), Annalise Morrison and Aubree Pflum.
