Program Highlights – Merry Moments!

All year long, we take every opportunity possible to spread joy to the youth we serve, and it all begins with small, singular moments. Little gestures that allow them to feel seen, heard and genuinely cared for. From the moment they walk through our doors after school to the moment their parent/guardian arrives to pick them up, it’s all about making the most of their Club experience. Throughout the holiday season, this focus becomes amplified as we aim to create as many magical and merry moments as time allows for.

This month has been full of so many merry moments leading up to Christmas, with a few favorites that consisted of all program sites visiting and playing Bingo with Santa via Zoom courtesy of Annie’s Fountain City Cafe. Such a wonderful experience for our younger Club members!

We had a great time writing letters to Santa as part of our elementary literacy program, enjoyed some friendly competition building the tallest shelf for Elf on the Shelf, celebrated National Ugly Sweater Day, and played a TON of super fun holiday-themed Minute to Win It games!

To add to all the excitement, the kids got to enjoy a bunch of different holiday treats to go along with books they have been reading in our Bookin’ & Cookin’ program! And the fun didn’t end there…they also frosted Christmas cookies, made ornaments to decorate our Guatemalan, Native American, and Irish Christmas trees for “Trees Around the World” at the Children’s Museum of Fond du Lac

To round out program highlights for December, some of our teen Keystone Club members partnered with the Fond du Lac Humane Society to design name tags for all the animals in the shelter (see article cover photo). They wanted to bring attention to all the animals that need to find their forever home. What a wonderful way for our teens to give back to the community! Club staff especially love being able to witness our youth finding true joy in giving back, and their determination to continuously search for new and creative ways to make a difference.

Have YOU ever wondered what it’s like to walk through the Boys & Girls Club and SEE these activities taking place in the moment?! We love to show people around and give them the opportunity to check out ALL the amazing moments that happen when youth walk through our doors. Feel free to contact us at 920-924-0530 to set up a time that works best for you, or stop in anytime during our peak program hours (Monday – Friday, 3:30 – 5:00pm).
