Hebel inducted into BGCWI Hall of Fame

The Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac is excited to announce that Dan Hebel, CEO, has been inducted into the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wisconsin Hall of Fame, class of 2023!

Chief Aaron Goldstein of the Fond du Lac Police Department had the honor of sharing some words to describe Hebel during the Hall of Fame Dinner on November 13. Goldstein stated, “Dan Hebel has positively impacted so many over the years. From local impact at Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac to being someone other CEOs can learn from to being active with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America on a national basis. Dan is well-respected by his peers throughout Boys & Girls Clubs of Wisconsin and beyond. Dan, we are blessed that you serve in a capacity as CEO that provides BGC the opportunity to not only improve the lives of Club members, but also those who work with you to include staff, volunteers, and board members.”

Family members, Club staff, board members, donors, friends and colleagues showed up to support and celebrate Hebel as he was inducted into the BGCWI Hall of Fame.

Hebel has been an active member of the Boys & Girls Club Movement since September 2001, when he started as a program assistant at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater LaCrosse. He worked there for three years as he completed his bachelors degree at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. After graduation, Hebel found his next opportunity in Clubs in his hometown of Fond du Lac. In January 2005, he was hired as the Director of Teen Services for the organization.

Over the next 19 years, Hebel held several titles within the organization, growing his level of knowledge and experience along the way, ultimately resulting in his hire as the CEO in 2013. Over the past decade, the Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac has increased youth membership by fifty percent and more than doubled the size of the operating budget. Cash assets and investments have increased ten-fold during the same time frame. Hebel has served the Movement through participation in strategic BGCA initiatives including the Affiliation Membership Taskforce, the Great Futures Planning Committee and the Advisory Council to the President.

Proud group of BGCFDL board members and professional staff – Congratulations Dan!

Throughout the years, Hebel has been recognized several times at the statewide, regional and national level for his work. The Professional Association of Boys & Girls Clubs named him Midwest Professional of the Year in 2012 and Executive of the Year in 2019. Hebel was also named CEO of the Year for Wisconsin Clubs in 2018.

Of his induction into the BGCWI Hall of Fame, Hebel stated, “The work we do is all about people. It’s all about relationships, and using those relationships to further the mission. Whether it’s the kids we serve, the staff we hire, the board members we engage, the donors who invest – if we surround ourselves with incredible people, it always works out if you work with integrity, honesty, transparency and quality people. And we have built that in Fond du Lac. I will advocate for the people in Fond du Lac, and I will advocate at the statewide level and the national level. Because if I do that, then I can ensure that the best is yet to come.”
