BGC Fundraiser Reaches New Heights
The 15th annual Reach for the Stars Dinner & Auction was a remarkable evening for our Boys & Girls Club. Presented by Grande Cheese and Mercury Marine, along with numerous sponsorships from local businesses and individuals, Reach for the Stars raised over $145,000 in support of our Club’s summer youth programs. This event marks the largest single fundraising event in the history of our organization. A significant portion of the proceeds raised through the event stemmed from the “Sponsor a Child” summer scholarship promotion which raised over $38,000 (and counting!). This helps to ensure that ALL youth are able to access our summer programs.
Reach for the Stars included an online silent auction and an exciting raffle for a chance to win a “Door County Experience” package, won by Jason Stenz! All in-person attendees also had the opportunity to participate in our brand new Dessert Raffle, with delicious desserts generously provided by Ala Roma, Annie’s Fountain City Cafe, Bonnie Federman, Bryanna’s Bakery, CC’s Chocolates, Crumbl Cookies, Gilles Frozen Custard, Katie Cakes Bakes, Katie Pachefsky, LollyCakes, Mama Tuesday’s, Pick ‘n Save, and Suzy’s Cream Cheesecakes.
Highlights of the evening consisted of an incredible speech delivered by our 2022-23 Youth of the Year, Sweetness Tilson, and a very special visit by a group of our Club youth. There was an overwhelming showing of support for the kids as they entered a room filled with nearly 300 community members, several standing and walking up front with them to gather around the stage as CEO Dan Hebel spoke about the Club’s vision to DREAM bigger in 2023. Hebel briefly shared the impact and growth of the Club’s mental health programs, workforce development programs, school district partnership to meet all after school child care needs, and the nationally renowned partnership between the Fond du Lac Family YMCA and the Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac.
