April 2022 Face of Great Futures

Leo is a 3rd grader at Chegwin Elementary School. He enjoys attending Club because “it’s fun and I like playing in the gym and outside with my friends after school.” Leo stated that he likes to play games and he’s especially good at math games and dodgeball. He describes himself as funny, because “well, everyone thinks I’m funny!” When asked what he would like to be when he grows up, Leo stated that he isn’t quite sure yet, but possibly a police officer. FUN FACT: Leo wouldn’t mind if people called him by the nickname “Jeo with a J like Jell-O” because he just really likes the sound of that name!

Leo is enjoying his 3rd grade year at Chegwin, and he stated that he loves writing in school. He is also very interested in history and is getting better at doing math. Leo shared that he feels really proud when he does well on his math homework. When asked if he likes to read, Leo excitedly nodded and shared that he is currently reading the book “King of Pop”, and added that he can also do some Michael Jackson dance moves! His favorite MJ song(s) are “Black or White” and “Smooth Criminal”.

Leo shared that he also enjoys watching movies in his spare time. His favorite movie so far is “No Way Home”; and for those who aren’t familiar with superheroes, that’s a Spiderman movie. The best thing that’s ever happened to Leo was taking a trip to Disneyworld with his family. He didn’t hesitate to exclaim, “I went on so many rides and I had a lot of fun, but Splash Mountain was so scary that I almost got sick!” Leo has also been to Mt. Olympus in Wisconsin Dells and would like to go there again soon. If he could go anywhere in the world, Leo would visit Washington D.C. “to learn more about history.”

When asked to share something important that he’s learned in life thus far, Leo stated “Don’t run, because you might hit something or someone and hurt them or yourself.” Leo lives in Fond du Lac with his dad, grandma, an older brother and two older sisters. He stated that if he had three wishes, he would 1) be the next King of Pop, 2) have the ability to do Michael Jackson’s “anti-gravity lean”, and 3) have infinite more wishes. Leo’s favorite food is puppy chow, his favorite colors are red and blue (to represent Spiderman, of course!), and his advice for younger Club kids is to “always be helpful to others.”
