On October 22, 2026, Boys & Girls Club of Fond du Lac joined communities across the country in celebrating Lights On Afterschool, a nationwide event that highlights the importance of afterschool programs and the positive impact they have on young people, families, and communities.
At Boys & Girls Club, the lights are on every day, creating opportunities for kids to learn new skills, explore their interests, build confidence, and develop meaningful relationships with caring adults. Lights On Afterschool gives us an opportunity to celebrate that impact and recognize the people who help make it possible.
Celebrating Across Our Clubs
Our Club locations came together to celebrate Lights On Afterschool through fun, engaging activities that brought our members, board members, and school communities together.
Our celebrations included:
- Caramel Apple Sale: We brought a little sweetness to the celebration with a caramel apple sale, helping spread awareness and support for our afterschool programs.
- The Lightbulb Challenge: Board members participated in the Lightbulb Challenge, helping shine a spotlight on the importance of keeping afterschool programs available to young people.
- Board Members Serving Supper: We welcomed board members into our Clubs to serve supper to our members. Their participation was a wonderful reminder that supporting youth is a community effort.
- Decorating Our Own Lightbulbs: Members got creative by decorating their own lightbulbs, representing the bright futures and endless possibilities that afterschool programs help inspire.
- Walking Around the School: Members participated in a walk around their school to bring awareness to Lights On Afterschool and celebrate the importance of having safe, supportive places to go after the final school bell rings.
Each activity provided a meaningful way to celebrate the opportunities available to our members while bringing attention to the difference afterschool programs make every day.
